Why should I link with Apple?
You don't have to. But if you don't, you'll lose your data if you change iPhones or uninstall the app. Highly recommended to link after your first walk.
How do I delete my account?
Profile → Account → "Delete account and data". This wipes everything permanently, with no way to recover.
I changed iPhones. How do I recover my territory?
Install Pawmark on the new iPhone. On the welcome screen, tap "Already have a territory? Link with Apple" and authenticate with your Apple ID. Your territory comes back.
GPS & walks
The GPS is very inaccurate. What do I do?
Make sure you granted "Always Allow" in Settings → Pawmark → Location. And check that you have a clear GPS signal (leave the inside of a building).
Does Pawmark track with the screen off?
Yes, if you granted "Always" for Location. If you only granted "While Using the App", tracking pauses when you lock the iPhone — which will leave gaps in your route.
How much battery does it use?
Background GPS is demanding. Expect ~10-15% per hour of walking. If that's a concern, you can keep the app open during the walk (uses less than background mode).
Territory & territory
How is a zone "conquered"?
Your route is projected onto a grid of hexagons. Any hex you touched becomes part of your territory. If you close a loop (return near the start of your route), all hexes inside the loop fill in automatically too.
What happens to old territory?
Once conquered, it's yours. You can't lose it. Share images show your total accumulated territory.
Sharing
I shared and the image looks weird — bug?
Make sure you have the latest version (App Store → Update). If you still see problems, send us a screenshot.
Does the image work on Instagram?
Yes, it's 9:16 (Stories format). For a regular feed post you can crop it.
